Set next door to the cultural hum of the Lido Cinema, Plaka Gyros is a restaurant that blurs the line between street food and stage. An ode to Athenian street food and culture, the identity leans into nostalgia and cinema simultaneously, anchored by a striking mural of Greek movie star Irene Papas. The design trades typical Mediterranean blues for a richer, moodier palette, deep reds and powdery blue that feel more late-night Athens than postcard Greece. Against this, playful typography cuts through. Expressive, slightly irreverent, and full of movement, echoing the energy of a spinning gyros. Part shrine, part street bar, this is where Greek tastes, cult cinema, and everyday ritual collide.
